Feeling lucky this year? Why not take the initiative and host an epic St. Patrick’s Day party for your friends and family? But don’t just go out and buy a bunch of Irish beer. We’ve got all the details on how to throw a party so incredible that anyone not on the guest list will be green with envy!

From food and décor to drinks and games, here’s how to hit the jackpot.

Load Up on Festive Decorations

St. Patrick’s Day isn’t hard to decorate for, but don’t be shy about the décor. After all, this holiday isn’t known for being subtle. Shamrock garlands and themed banners add a festive flair to any room, but you can always add fairy lights or candles if you want a more magical ambiance.

If you want to make a big impact, a green balloon arch is the perfect touch to your front porch as guests walk in.  And speaking of balloons, clusters of green and gold balloons are a cost-effective way to add lots of pizzazz to your party scene. For a more refined touch on tables, tie them to a glittery green balloon weight to keep them in place.

But don’t forget that the real focal point of any St. Patrick’s Day party is the food and drink! So, make sure your tables are just as festive as the rest of the party. Pair green tablecloths with green and gold plates and napkins for a foolproof combo. Finish off the look with fun centerpieces like pots of gold or faux clover bouquets.

Prepare a Shamrockin’ Delicious Spread

Speaking of food and drinks, a St. Patty’s Day party is the perfect opportunity to treat your guests to some delicious Irish classics.

Be sure to have a nice variety of appetizers and main courses so your guests can balance their drinks with a hearty meal. We recommend easy picks like Irish soda bread, mini shepherd’s pie, and spinach dip, paired with corned beef and cabbage, Guinness beef stew, and Irish bangers and mash.

And you’re in luck because these are all super easy to make or buy ahead of time and serve as a buffet or sit-down meal—whichever you prefer!

Of course, you can’t have a St. Patrick’s Day bash without some signature drinks! Irish Mules, Green Beer, and Shamrock Shake Martinis are great additions to a hearty supply of Irish Whiskey and Guinness. We also recommend putting out some sparkling green punch or a minty limeade for any sober guests to enjoy.

Plan Some Great Shenanigans

Want to add some fun activities to the party schedule? We’ve got you covered there, too!

Obviously, you can play any variety of drinking games. But if you want to lean a little more into the theme, try Irish Trivia, a gold coin toss, or karaoke to Irish songs! A DIY photo booth with themed props is also a great way to commemorate the evening. Just hang up a green backdrop and provide some leprechaun hats, green boas, or funny signs, and you’ll be all set.

If you’re feeling extra generous, you can finish off the event with some simple party favors like chocolate gold coins, four-leaf clover pins, or green bead necklaces.

The most important detail about a St. Patrick’s Day party is remembering to let loose and have fun! So be sure to channel that Irish spirit and your guests will have a great time.
