Deck the Halls with This DIY Tulle Wreath!
•Posted on December 06 2024
The holidays are officially here, which means it’s time to ditch the fall décor and bring out your best Christmas displays. But if your front door is looking a little bit bare (or outdated), it may be time to spruce it up with a new wreath!
Rather than spend hours searching for the perfect one online, why not craft one yourself? We’ve got the perfect DIY recipe to create your own tulle holiday wreath, complete with sparkly ribbon and festive florals. It’s super-easy and can be done in just one sitting.
Ready? Here’s how to make it.
DIY Holiday Wreath
- Wire wreath frame
- Tulle (in 1 or more holiday colors)
- Mesh ribbon
- Glitter ball pick
- Artificial magnolia stem
- Hot glue gun
Instructions
- Choose your favorite size for your wreath frame. It can be as big or small as you like, but be sure it’s sturdy and that the ends are securely fastened.
- Cut your tulle into 12” strands.
- Begin to attach your tulle, one piece at a time, by forming a U-shape with the strand, with the curve pointed toward the outer edge of the wreath. Pass the two end strands underneath a section of the wire frame, making sure they’re even. Then, fold them back and pull them through the loop to create a tight knot.
- Continue to make knots with the tulle all the way around the wire frame until each section is covered.
- Next, cut your magnolia stem down so that the stem part is approximately 6” long.
- Using hot glue, secure the glitter ball pick and the magnolia stem to the bottom center of the wreath so that the flowers and balls reach up the side.
- Using the mesh ribbon, create a large bow and glue it over the stems to hide them. You can adjust the ribbon ends to your preference, keeping them short or letting them drape down beyond the wreath.
All that’s left is to hang your wreath on your front door to greet visitors all season long.
