Bring Autumn to Your Table: A Simple Fall Tablescape Guide
•Posted on November 15 2024
Fall is the perfect time to transform your home into an autumnal wonderland, leaning into the rustic, seasonal vibes and cozy ambiance. And one of our favorite places to embrace that fall ambiance to the fullest is at the table.
So many of fall’s best events revolve around the table, so it just makes sense to bring in elements that capture the essence of the season. The best part is that creating a tablescape for fall is so simple, especially when you embrace the natural, rustic vibes.
- Set the Foundation with a Decorative Burlap Runner
Burlap is our go-to choice for a rustic tablescape base. Its natural coloring and texture provide warmth while evoking thoughts of fall activities. All you have to do is take some decorative burlap roll and cut it to your desired length. Don’t be scared to experiment with how far it hangs off your table.
If you want something a bit more elegant, consider layering your burlap runner over a linen tablecloth for some extra contrast.
- Add a Polished Layer with Charger Plates
All our favorite tablescapes include charger plates, and we don’t think it’s hard to see why! Chargers can add beautiful pops of color and texture to your table, where plates alone can fall flat. For a fall tablescape, we particularly love these chargers' gold color and basket-stitch texture. They look like golden leaves and pair perfectly with plates in classic white or any fall color! They’re the perfect way to frame your dinnerware and add a finished feel to the setting.
- Create a Magical Centerpiece
For those who enjoy a good DIY project, a fall terrarium is the way to go! Geometric terrariums are always chic, but something magical happens when you pair them with autumn colors and fairy lights. We suggest getting one large or several small terrariums and filling them with mini pumpkins, dried leaves, and fairy lights for a glowing focal point that’s as cute as it is cozy! You can also add some succulents or moss base for a fresh, earthy touch.
- Bring in Some Pinecones
Pinecones aren’t just for Christmas! They make a fantastic natural addition to your tablescape when you scatter them along your runner or pile them into decorative baskets and bowls. You can also jazz them up by spray painting the edges or the whole pinecone with glittery gold or other fall colors.
You can also incorporate other natural elements along your runner, like acorns, pine branches, or wheat stalks, for more texture and color.
- Don’t Forget the Candles
A cozy fall tablescape demands warm lighting, and there’s no better way to get it than candles. Whether you prefer the ambiance of candelabras or pillar candles in varying heights, the inviting glow of candles adds an unmistakable touch of warmth to any tablescape!
But don’t be afraid to get creative here, either! To create the perfect fall vibe, try putting your candles in votives, large glass holders, or even hollow-out pumpkins. You can also mix and match LED candles as needed for safety without giving up that cozy ambiance.
The best thing about a fall tablescape is how beautifully versatile it is! With so many fun, rustic elements to choose from, you can easily customize it to fit your table’s size and shape, as well as your personal preferences. All it takes is a little creativity to bring the spirit of fall to every meal this season!
